EXPERIMENTS WITH LIGHT: Art Lab
International satellite project of Kaunas Biennial TEXTILE’11

Lab: During exhibition period several workshops will be held for local community people.
The Textile Artists’ Guild is announcing an open call for the project Experiments with Light: Art Lab. The brand new Kaunas arena' media centre will become the place for international exhibition which exhibits will be installed in the darkness and lightened by black light bulbs which spotlight luminescent details of the art pieces and thus enrich the aesthetic experiences of the visitors by mystical effects and unexpected approaches. Since 2006 several editions of Black Light exhibition, organised by the Textile Artists’ Guild, were held in Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Check Republic, and all of them became known as most visited exhibitions of the venues.
Conditions for participation:
Proposed artworks (wall or space pieces, objects, etc) should be made using luminescent treads, materials or dyes, which reflect to the black lightening. Some of the pieces, which were made not thinking about such possibility, are reflecting black lightening in very effective way – you may try and be surprised by the result.

The organizer will provide equipment and technical help installing and through exhibition, will work on exhibition promotion in Lithuanian and European media, will produce DVD catalogue (each participants will be provided by 1 copy) and will ensure the security during exhibition period. Participants will take care on transportation of the pieces both sides.
Artists will be awarded by Diploma for the Originality and by the Visitors Choice Award.
The results of the jury will be announced till the 15th of July, 2011 (answer will be sent to you by e-mail). The selected artworks will have to be sent to the Textile Guild office till the 15th of August, 2011.
